Patrice Annequin, Chief of Party for the Feed the Future Enhancing Growth through Regional Agricultural Input Systems (EnGRAIS) Project for West Africa, is a market information specialist and agro-economist with more than 30 years of experience in private sector and agricultural input market development. He has expertise in agricultural and rural development, project design and management, private sector development, market information systems (MIS), and business development and management.

 

Annequin’s expertise also involves agro-input marketing, regulations and policies, institutional development and organizational strengthening, market studies and assessments, and capacity building of producer and trader organizations. With strong competence in the conceptualization and design of agricultural market information systems for agricultural inputs and outputs, Annequin headed the MIS Unit of the USAID-funded MISTOWA project from 2004 to 2008. 

 

In 2009, he became responsible for AfricaFertilizer.org, a global portal on fertilizer production, trade, consumption, and price statistics in Africa led by IFDC, in partnership with the International Fertilizer Association, the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 

the African Union Commission, Argus, and the International Food Policy Research Institute. Annequin was Senior Fertilizer Market Specialist at IFDC until 2018. He then served as the Private Sector Specialist/IR 1 Team Leader for EnGRAIS, in which his primary mission was to provide support to the West Africa Fertilizer Association (WAFA) to build a more competitive, inclusive, private sector-led, regional fertilizer market. Annequin became the project’s Chief of Party in 2022. 

 

Annequin earned a master’s degree in economics and sociology of sustainable development from the Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon, France.
