OCP Nutricrops Expands Fertilizer Production with SP2M Initiative

27 March 2025

OCP Nutricrops is taking a bold step toward the future of fertilizer production with its Mzinda-Meskala (SP2M) strategic program. This ambitious initiative is set to increase production capacity by 4.5 million tonnes by 2026 and 9 million tonnes by 2028, reinforcing OCP’s commitment to global food security and sustainable agriculture.

Driving Customization in Fertilizers

A key focus of SP2M is the expansion of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) and TSP+ production. These customizable fertilizers play a crucial role in delivering tailored nutrient solutions to farmers worldwide, optimizing soil health and crop yields.

Industry 5.0: The Next Phase of Industrial Excellence

SP2M is designed in alignment with Industry 5.0, integrating AI, automation, and advanced digital technologies into its production process. This ensures greater efficiency, precision, and adaptability in fertilizer manufacturing, setting a new standard for industrial innovation.

Sustainability at the Core

In line with OCP Nutricrops’ carbon neutrality goal by 2040, SP2M will operate using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. Additionally, the project will leverage non-conventional water resources, including seawater desalination and wastewater treatment, to minimize environmental impact and ensure responsible resource management.
